Have you, yourself done an Ancestry DNA to find out more about your roots? No, but I was told my birth parents were at least partly; Italian (father's side), and British (meaning some mix of Scot, Irish, etc), and probably some other stuff mixed in there. A.k.a. a mutt When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Never done the DNA test. Wouldn't want to really. Too many Con Artists out in the world today just looking to make a fast buck. A few years back a second cousin did the family tree thing, going back to the 1700's for my Dads side of the family. Found our original family crest while he was stationed in Germany, and that we were related to a lot of Doctor's, Earls, and a Duke or two. Mom's side is easier to trace, as I'm only the forth generation State side. Her Grand Parents emigrated from Scotland. I never met my grand Parents on my Dad's side, both were long gone before I was born, Nor have I ever met my Mother's Father. Big ado with them getting a ((Divorce)) * say it quietly* My Grand mother re married a few years after my parents got married to a nice Gentleman with an English heritage. Oh and in case you might be wondering my Paternal Grand Mother was of German decent as well. But that was the norm back in the day. People didn't marry outside of their heritage or religious faith.

My mum was into genealogy and got back to 1750s on my dad's side and 1630s on her side. She had the trees manually drawn out on a section of wallpaper and would roll it up when she was done for the day. Then in the early 1990s we entered about 600 names into a PC programme I had bought (long before the days of internet access) which made managing and correcting much easier. We've nearly 1300 names now. My sister in law is also keen on the subject and has several research trees on the go when she gets time. It was her that introduced me to ancestry. I bought her a DNA kit for her birthday. I think there's an "opt out" somewhere which prevents them from keeping your records or sharing it or something, you just need to judge whether the potential information it may reveal is worth the cost.

Ah McJoy, if you go to a reputable company for your DNA test there's no reason to doubt the results. A Canadian relative (not a blood relative) of mine had one done recently and the results were quite amazing. They offered her a legally binding confidentiality agreement, among others, so there was no concern whatsoever about privacy. Her ancestors were placed in eastern europe and north africa. I find it all very fascinating. If you're going to do it, it would seem sensible to ask for someo ne to recommend a company, or do some research and satisfy yourself that they're the real deal before parting with yer hard earned dosh? Good luck, I hope ye do it, the results would be fascinating........

I am Cheyenne Indian for the most part, with some irish, German and some English and Scottish. And I have to say I didn't have any breasts really, I belonged to the itty bitty titty committee until I had my kids now I have ample ones you could say. Not to mention I was maybe ninety nine pounds soaking wet back in the day.. Got to love our ancestory, I should try to find out more about mine, hell that's if I knew who my real dad is, as I just found out in my forties the one I thought was my dad may not be..

I have often regretted that my Grandparents didn't tell me much about their history. One couldn't remember much about his family as he came to the UK when he was 8 with his mother and he said a sister but he couldn't hardly remember her and wouldn't talk about her. The other one had an interesting life. when he first came to the UK he used his occupation as his name and would never tell us the real family name. He always said that is our name now the rest is unimportant. He returned to fight in the Russian Revolution and was a deputy in the Dumas. Might also have married bigamously during that time. He also wouldn't talk about it. All this could give a person a complex. “For a moment, nothing happened. Then, after a second or so, nothing continued to happen.” ― Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Much like this site Visit my Blog for my adventures.

First off the least expensive DNA kits are more about being entertained than giving you a complete DNA profile. Second, because of my DNA testing, I looked up how our DNA is combined from our parents...it is a hash mess of 23 parts Right & Left, don't know the name,,,the egg and sperm don't get a complete set of DNA from our parents..usually the is one side or the other but that is not always the case, you could get a mish mash of combinations. The Mish Mash mess can leave out parts of our heritage. Third just because your parents were born some place does not mean they are of that genetic country. In my case ; My maternal grandmother was born in England and migrated here,,My paternal grandfather was born in England and migrated here. I figured I had to be from the U K and English...Part of my DNA is UK but none is English. Most of my DNA comes from across that channel and the other two parts of family hails the UK, not from across that channel.. My brother must be right I am the milk man or postman's child. I am mostly a Viking according to the DNA test! Being I am the one and only from my parents; I won't get a complete comparison example. The parents are long dead.

I suggest you do an information search about how children get their DNA from parents and then look in to what these genetic test really reveal. From my understanding there are more expensive DNA test that will reveal more complete information. Look before leaping! My test was a gift too. I was sure before, now full of questions that can't be answered...lol

Hi Joy. thanks for taking me further with this one... but... I don't know how that family history... you see... I'm thinking that your clan was maybe from Spain or Italy... and, they latched on to either La Pinta, La Nina or Santa Maria. Yes, way back in 1492. Once in America... they hitched a ride with Cortez to Mexico... and, then God's country... Since your mom had black hair and blue eyes, this story makes more sense to me... plus... since your dad played a banjo and sang country songs about the Rose of Texas... I figure his descendants spent some time in Tyler, Texas, the rose capital of "God's country". Then, they headed north to Quebec to be with some of their buddies from France... And, the rest is history... I'm sure, if you dig deep enough... you'll see that this is a more plausible story... just sayin'... and, that's all I've got to say about that... for me... I believe that I am a descendant of the Inca dynasty... I luv all types of women... with or without stories... hmm... I'll leave you with this one... Loretta Lynn - "Country In My Genes" Well, they say that I'm too country, the way I look and sound. They wanna to make me over, just a little more uptown. Say I need to change my image, now tell me what's that mean. Don't they know I've got country in my genes? Well, I can't help the way I talk, I wouldn't change it if I could. Sophisticated ain't my style, but country fits me good. I ain't ashamed to wear what's been handed down to me. Lord, I've got country in my genes. I've got country in my genes, country in my blood. It goes back generations. It's something I'm proud of. It's something I was born with, what you get is what you see. I'm just an old hillybilly with a country song to sing. Lord, I've got country in my genes. Oh that Earl Scruggs. If country's… To leave private messages, please use my confidential mailbox at my blog: Good luck!!!
